About The Position

SEL is seeking a Mechanical/Robotics Engineer to join their Product Support and Development - Mechanical team within the Manufacturing Division. This role focuses on developing and integrating mechanical and robotic solutions for manufacturing facilities to improve safety, reliability, and economy. The engineer will be involved in hands-on design, problem-solving, and direct customer interaction, owning projects from conception to integration. Key responsibilities include leading a small team to develop automation solutions using collaborative/industrial robotics, end-of-arm tooling, computer vision, and custom mechanical tools/fixtures. CAD work, design reviews, and ensuring real-world functionality of solutions are integral parts of the role. The position emphasizes delivering results on time and within budget while also focusing on employee development.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
Approximately 2+ years of experience in three or more of the following areas: Automation integration, Materials and processes, Mechanics, CAD, Manufacturing engineering, Electronic manufacturing techniques
Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to manage and track projects effectively
Clear and effective communication skills—written, verbal, and documentation
Quick to learn new skills and open to taking on new responsibilities
Works well in team environments
Must pass a background check and drug test per SEL requirements

Nice To Haves

Experience leading small teams
Experience with robotics, especially Universal Robots Cobots
Experience with vision systems
Experience supporting design, automation, or general engineering in a manufacturing setting
Experience writing or running Design of Experiments

Responsibilities
