About The Position

As a Senior Robotics Mechanical Engineer on Stryker’s Mako and Enabling Technology team, you will design and develop robotic medical devices intended to improve patient outcomes. The role involves solving complex engineering challenges and collaborating across disciplines. It is based in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and is hybrid or onsite, with onsite work required 3–4 days per week. Candidates must live within commuting distance. Travel is 10%.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• At least two years of relevant engineering experience.

Nice To Haves

• Working knowledge of robotics mechanical engineering practices and design principles.
• Ability to create engineering drawings and models using GD&T and CAE tools.
• Ability to apply knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes to product design.
• Ability to communicate basic plans and technical information to team members.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, modify, and verify medical-device components and modules under minimal supervision.
• Translate design inputs into engineering specifications and produce subsystem-level designs.
• Develop and analyze solutions, prototyping one or more options to demonstrate proof of concept.
• Apply fundamental and some advanced concepts, practices, and procedures to solve problems.
• Demonstrate an advanced understanding of customer needs and design inputs.
• Follow applicable industry standards, design requirements, and test strategies for regulatory requirements.
• Independently create or refine engineering documentation, such as the Design History File.
• Take ownership of work and prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
• Collaborate as a key team member and build strong working relationships.
