About The Position

OLH Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Process Design Engineer to provide design engineering staff augmentation support to SRNS. This role involves applying technical expertise to resolve complex problems, incorporating advanced technical practices, and developing solutions in specialized fields. The engineer will be responsible for engineering analysis, design development, and the generation of various design output documents. This position requires a high level of technical expertise and the ability to lead task teams and prepare comprehensive project plans.

Requirements

An advanced degree and experience, a Ph.D. degree and about 10 years of experience, an MS degree and 12 years of experience, or a BS degree and approximately 15 years of experience.
BS Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or current registration as a Professional Engineer in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance.
Minimum of 15 years of design experience in the nuclear or process chemical industry.
Minimum of 10 years of experience working at one or more DOE facilities.
Demonstrate experience creating and revising documentation in one or more of the following areas: Process Flow; Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams; System Descriptions; Mechanical Equipment Lists; Mechanical Equipment Sizing; Pipe and Valve Specifications; Failure Analysis; Accident Analysis; Finite Element Analysis; ASME Code Design and Evaluation; Pipe Stress Analysis; Material Handling Design; Fire Protection Design; HVAC Design; and Vendor Document Reviews.
Considered an internal expert in area of expertise.
Contributes to advancing knowledge in field of expertise through various avenues such as internal and external publications and professional society presentations.
Can solve complex problems in field.

Nice To Haves

Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years are preferred.
Previous SRS Design Engineering experience and working knowledge of SRNS design processes and procedures.

Responsibilities

Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features into problem solving and program planning.
Perform engineering analysis, design development, and generation of design output documents including Process Flow Diagrams, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, System Descriptions, Mechanical Equipment Lists, Mechanical Equipment Sizing, Pipe and Valve Specifications, Failure Analysis, Accident Analysis, Finite Element Analysis, ASME Code Design and Evaluation, Pipe Stress Analysis, Material Handling Design, Fire Protection Design, HVAC Design, and Vendor Document Reviews.
Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s) of technical expertise.
Develop solutions to complex technical problems in fields of expertise.
Keep informed on technical needs within the company and technical trends in the area of expertise in the external world.
Be aware of capabilities of the work group and needs of its customers.
Identify technical programs which can be carried out with little guidance and take the initiative to accomplish them.
Lead task teams for developing solutions to more complex problems.
Prepare plans including schedules, budgets, and personnel requirements for solving major technical tasks identified by management.
Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor expenditures of budget, and review quality of work performed.
Include research, development, testing, and quality assurance requirements in plans.
Communicate results and objectives verbally and in manuscript form to customers, colleagues, managers, and oversight groups.
Prepare reports for external publication.
