This opportunity with Black & Veatch provides the chance to collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams within the Advanced Process Solutions Market Sector, supporting large-scale chemical, fertilizer, and LNG facilities that are critical to global energy and industrial supply chains. Mechanical (piping) professionals contribute to the delivery of safe, reliable, and code-compliant process facilities by developing high-quality engineering deliverables, including piping system layouts, routing, and tie-ins to process equipment such as reactors, compressors, heat exchangers, pumps, and cryogenic systems. This role requires close coordination with process, mechanical equipment, instrumentation and controls, structural, and civil disciplines to ensure piping designs align with P&IDs, material and corrosion requirements, pressure and temperature extremes, constructability considerations, and interfaces with underground utilities and existing operating units. The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Associate Engineering Technician supports the development of high-quality engineering deliverables for complex infrastructure projects. Working under the guidance of experienced engineering and design professionals, this position applies foundational knowledge of engineering principles and design practices to develop and modify 3D piping layouts and model-based drawings using Hexagon SmartPlant and CADWorx. The Associate Engineering Technician assists with design production, model development, drawing creation, and quality reviews while continuing to build technical proficiency in piping design, industry codes and standards, and project execution processes. This role provides an opportunity to develop technical skills through collaboration with multidisciplinary project teams and contribute to the successful delivery of engineering projects while meeting quality, schedule, and client requirements.
