About The Position

HGA is seeking a skilled Mechanical/Piping Designer for its Baton Rouge office. The role involves working on complex and unique engineering design projects, translating general concepts into detailed, constructible design packages. The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Requirements

• Technology training in drafting and design.
• Minimum 10 years of piping design experience in the petrochemical industry.
• Strong computer skills, including MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Self-starter and strong team player.
• Effective communication, leadership, and presentation skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage shifting priorities.
• Willingness to learn and apply new technologies.
• Ability to perform fieldwork in industrial facilities.
• Must be located within commuting distance of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree preferred.
• Previous experience in a consulting engineering firm preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and analyze general designs provided by engineers.
• Prepare detailed designs and construction drawing packages for engineering approval.
• Develop piping layouts based on project scope and vendor information.
• Review vendor equipment drawings and coordinate with engineers on pipe stress analysis.
• Ensure technical accuracy and constructability of final designs.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across the organization.
• Create and train design teams, including on 3D modeling software.
• Train and configure scan data acquisition and use, scan processing best practices, and isometric software configuration and generation.
• Maintain and configure Plant3D/Cadworx piping material specifications and project settings/configuration.
