About The Position

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician will assist journeyman-level mechanics in routine maintenance work and perform many duties independently. Duties include, but are not restricted to, replacing valves & gaskets, basic welding, repacking pumps & valves, forklift operations, screwed pipe & tubing installations, cylinder repair, pump repair & replacement, repair of rotating assemblies, roll repair and replacements, motor replacements, and repair of mechanical drive systems. The role also involves ensuring an understanding of quality policy and supporting efforts for a positive customer experience, as well as aiding in the execution of mill-wide quality efforts to help maintain mill quality standards.

Requirements

  • Must be currently 18 years of age or older.
  • Eligible for employment in the U.S.
  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Able to function in a team environment.
  • One (1) year experience in any of the following Maintenance Skill Areas: Millwright, Machinist, Lubrication, Welding, Automotive Maintenance or Pipefitting.
  • OR One (1) year vocational/technical education in any of the following Maintenance Skill Areas: Millwright, Machinist, Lubrication, Welding, Automotive Maintenance or Pipefitting.
  • Undergo a drug screen for illicit use of drugs as a condition of employment.
  • Submit to periodic drug screens as a condition of employment.
  • Willing to work any shift and/or a rotating shift schedule.
  • Willing to work overtime on a regular basis and with last minute notification.
  • Willing to work holidays and/or weekends on a regular basis.
  • Willing to wear required safety equipment.
  • Willing to operate or work in industrial conditions (i.e. warm/hot, dusty/dirty, around hazardous chemicals, noise, heavy machinery or elevated working surfaces with proper safety training and safety protection).

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in any of the Core Maintenance skills or related disciplines. (Millwright, Machinist, Welding or Pipefitting)
  • Relevant work experience in an industrial environment.
  • Strong math/physics understanding.
  • Instrumentation background on the Instrumentation Electrical side.
