About The Position

EXP is seeking a Mechanical Intern for its Chicago office. The intern will have the opportunity to work on Mission Critical, Aviation, Transit, and Commercial building projects, collaborating with engineers and supporting project work through CAD drafting, HVAC load calculations, code and standards research, and engineering calculations.

Requirements

• Be at least a sophomore in an accredited bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
• Be fluent in engineering problem-solving.
• Communicate ideas and concepts effectively.
• Have an interest in the HVAC consulting industry.
• Be comfortable with basic computer skills, including Word and Excel.
• Be a self-starter and results-oriented.
• Be organized on a daily basis.
• Work personably with colleagues.
• Have some understanding and experience in CAD/3-D skills.

Responsibilities

• Work with engineers to achieve project results in a timely and accurate manner.
• Generate CAD drawings using AutoCAD.
• Use HVAC load calculation software to produce meaningful results.
• Research codes, references, and standards to assist engineers.
• Complete handwritten calculations and other assigned engineering tasks.
