Mechanical Engineering Co-op (Spring 2027)

Emerson•Elyria, OH
•$24 - $28

About The Position

Emerson’s Mechanical Engineering Co-op provides hands-on, real-world experience, mentorship, and opportunities to rotate through multiple departments based on the student’s academic progress. Assignments may include the Engineering Lab, where students assist with feasibility studies and competitive evaluations, use lab equipment, analyze test data, and present results; Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE), where students assist designers, drafters, and engineers with product design and development; and Product Engineering, where students work with product development engineers on engineering analysis, failure analysis, finite element analysis, and other aspects of developing products that meet customer requirements. The co-op assists with tests and data collection, analyzes results, writes lab reports, uses Solid Edge CAD to model parts and assemblies, creates design concepts and detailed drawings, supports product development and sustaining engineering, and learns to troubleshoot problems. During the final work period, the student completes a design project involving conceptual design, computations, CAD layout, drawing generation, prototype coordination, testing, and debugging. Each semester concludes with a presentation to the VP of Engineering, engineering leaders, and engineering staff. The role is for an undergraduate pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology who can work full-time during the scheduled semester and is legally authorized to work in the United States. The hourly pay range is $24–$28, depending on academic year and experience. Emerson describes a culture emphasizing mentorship, training, career development, inclusion, collaboration, and employee well-being, with benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage, an Employee Assistance Program, 401(k), tuition reimbursement, employee resource groups, recognition, flexible time off, paid parental leave, vacation, and holiday leave.
