About The Position

Exponent is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for its Mechanical Engineering Practice in its Menlo Park, CA office. This role involves working as part of multiple teams to consult on a wide variety of mechanical engineering issues, with a specific focus on machine design and manufacturing. The position is expected to foster growth in consulting, including technical expertise and effective communication, to develop a client base both within and outside the firm.

Requirements

Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent with focused thesis, coursework, and teaching experience in solid mechanics and machine design, utilizing both experimental methods and computational analysis
Strong mechanical and strength of materials intuition
Demonstrated hands-on fabrication and laboratory skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work within project teams with a strong desire to contribute
Potential for technical and project managerial leadership
Ability to convey technical information to individuals in engineering, business, legal and related industries
Presently legally authorized to work in the United States. No immigration sponsorship or processing required.

Nice To Haves

Experience working in a manufacturing setting is a plus

Responsibilities

Communicating effectively with other engineers and technicians, managers, clients, and administrative reports
Conducting hands-on failure analysis
Planning and executing laboratory tests
Performing calculations and analysis
Performing field inspections
Assisting other engineering practice groups within Exponent on an as-needed basis
Supporting senior staff in project development and marketing
