BPA is seeking a Mechanical Building Engineer to join their growing team in Edmonton. This role involves working closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative, practical, and energy-efficient mechanical solutions for various building projects. The position is ideal for a motivated professional with HVAC and plumbing experience who wants to collaborate with clients and project partners to create high-performing built environments. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (specializing in building) or building engineering.
  • 7+ years of experience in mechanical building systems design.
  • Member in good standing of APEGA (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit, and HAP heat loads calculations software.
  • Capability to write reports, complete site visits, and design mechanical and plumbing systems with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Collaborative spirit and positive leadership to influence technical decisions and client relationships.
  • Ability to work at the office and do day project site visits
  • Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle for site and client visits.

Responsibilities

  • Technical supervision, coordination, verification and design of various mechanical building systems projects from concept design to completion of construction.
  • Work as part of a team to carry out building-related mechanical systems design projects for various sectors (institutional, office, commercial, cultural and residential).
  • Connect with clients to understand their needs.
  • Survey existing installations.
  • Analyze, design and adapt building-related installations.
  • Prepare various types of client reports.
  • Manage the project and the relationships with the client.
