About The Position

Kimley-Horn is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Practice Builder with 8+ years of experience to join the Reno, NV office. This role involves project management in conjunction with lead engineer responsibilities, overseeing HVAC design from concept to completion, and maintaining client relationships. The position requires proven design experience with comfort and HVAC systems, related controls, and plumbing systems (water, sewer, gas). Additionally, the role involves producing engineering and energy studies (comcheck, Title 24), writing proposals, and mentoring junior staff.

Requirements

• 8+ years of related experience
• Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
• Proven design experience with comfort and HVAC systems and related controls
• Proven design experience with plumbing systems including water, sewer, and gas
• Experience producing engineering and energy studies including comcheck, Title 24
• Experience mentoring and coordinating the work of EITs, designers, and other technical staff on various mechanical or multi-discipline projects
• Able to manage and deliver tasks under minimal supervision and guidance
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and critical thinking ability
• Ability to work individually or in a multi-discipline team

Nice To Haves

• Experience in AutoCAD and Revit is a plus

Responsibilities

• Project Management role is in conjunction with lead engineer responsibilities.
• Oversee the HVAC design of projects from concept to completion, including continuous interface with the design team and clients.
• Proven design experience with comfort and HVAC systems and related controls
• Proven design experience with plumbing systems including water, sewer, and gas
• Experience producing engineering and energy studies including comcheck, Title 24
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and critical thinking ability
• Write responses to Requests for Proposals and Requests for Qualifications for various clients and marketing opportunities
• Ability to work individually or in a multi-discipline team
• Mentor and coordinate the work of designers and other technical staff on various mechanical or multi-discipline projects
• Manage and deliver tasks under minimal supervision and guidance
