About The Position

Kimley-Horn is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Practice Builder with 8+ years of experience to join the Reno, NV office. This role involves project management in conjunction with lead engineer responsibilities, requiring the ability to oversee the HVAC design of projects from concept to completion, including continuous interface with the design team and clients. The position also requires experience producing engineering and energy studies, writing responses to RFPs/RFQs, and mentoring technical staff. The ability to work individually or in a multi-discipline team and manage tasks under minimal supervision is essential.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of related experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
  • Proven design experience with comfort and HVAC systems and related controls.
  • Proven design experience with plumbing systems including water, sewer, and gas.
  • Experience producing engineering and energy studies including comcheck, Title 24.
  • Experience mentoring and coordinating the work of EITs, designers, and other technical staff on various mechanical or multi-discipline projects.
  • Able to manage and deliver tasks under minimal supervision and guidance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and critical thinking ability.
  • Ability to work individually or in a multi-discipline team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in AutoCAD and Revit is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the HVAC design of projects from concept to completion.
  • Maintain continuous interface with the design team and clients.
  • Produce engineering and energy studies including comcheck, Title 24.
  • Write responses to Requests for Proposals and Requests for Qualifications.
  • Mentor and coordinate the work of designers and other technical staff on various mechanical or multi-discipline projects.
