About The Position

Applied Materials is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern to join its Hardware Engineering team in Santa Clara, California. The intern will work alongside experienced engineers on the development, analysis, testing, and improvement of semiconductor equipment and subsystems, with a focus on critical chamber hardware for capital equipment product lines. The position offers hands-on experience in mechanical design, product development, experimental validation, and failure analysis while contributing to engineering projects affecting customer performance and product reliability. The intern will support mechanical design and development, create and modify 3D CAD models and engineering documentation, design and conduct experiments, and communicate findings to project teams. The role also includes participating in prototype development, testing, validation, root-cause investigations, failure analysis, design reviews, and cross-functional collaboration. The internship is full-time during the summer or a designated internship period. The position is listed as full-time, with no travel and relocation eligibility. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis; apply by December 31, 2026. The position may close earlier depending on application volume or candidate selection.
