About The Position

Applied Materials is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern to join its Hardware Engineering team in Santa Clara, California. The intern will work alongside experienced engineers on the development, analysis, testing, and improvement of semiconductor equipment and subsystems, with a focus on critical chamber hardware for capital equipment product lines. The role offers hands-on experience in mechanical design, product development, experimental validation, and failure analysis while contributing to projects affecting customer performance and product reliability. The intern will support mechanical design and development, create and modify CAD models and engineering documentation, plan and conduct experiments, analyze and present results, participate in prototype testing and validation, and assist with root cause investigations. The role also involves collaboration with manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and suppliers, participation in design reviews, and preparation of technical reports and presentations. This is a full-time summer or designated-period internship for a student currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis; applicants are encouraged to apply by December 31, 2026, though the role may close earlier depending on application volume or candidate selection. Relocation is eligible, and travel is not required.
