About The Position

Charter Manufacturing is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern for a year-round program. This internship offers hands-on experience in reading engineering prints, analyzing manufacturing processes with operators, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. The program is structured for part-time hours (15-20/week) during the academic year and full-time hours (40/week) during the summer. Interns will work on meaningful projects, receive mentorship, professional development, and networking opportunities. Signature experiences include Intern Kickoff Day, volunteer opportunities, professional development workshops, and the Intern Summer Showcase.

Requirements

Enrollment in a four-year degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.
Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.
Proficient in Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
Ability to succeed in a team environment.
Ability to handle multiple tasks.

Nice To Haves

Advanced Excel and analyst skills.
AutoCAD experience.
Exposure to Lean manufacturing and Continuous Improvement Tools.

Responsibilities

Organize and maintain electrical and mechanical drawings within our document management system.
Verify engineering prints accurately reflect current parts and manufacturing processes.
Assist with the design and development of new parts and components.
Support process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and productivity.
