About The Position

The Raytheon Radar, Airborne, and Space Systems Department is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer I – Structural Analyst to perform detailed structural analysis supporting all phases of programs, including development and production. This onsite role is based in McKinney, Texas. The candidate will work under general guidance and be accountable for completing work within agreed cost and schedule, and will present work for peer and external customer reviews. Analysis work ranges from classical hand calculations to detailed finite element analysis. It includes evaluation of RF and EO/IR hardware designs for static and dynamic strength, fatigue, durability, stiffness, thermos-elastic behavior, and other system- and subsystem-level performance measures, such as field of view and line of sight. The engineer will work with customers and engineering leadership to define tests that validate analyses and verify requirements, and will plan and support testing, reduce test data, and correlate structural models.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM major by the start date.
  • Experience performing sizing calculations to determine the scope of higher-detail analysis models.
  • Experience performing structural analysis using FEA software.
  • Experience with engineering workstations running Windows and the Office suite.
  • U.S. citizenship is required because only U.S. citizens are eligible for the required security clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance; an active and existing DoD Secret clearance is required after day one.

  • Vibration and dynamics experience.
  • Programming skills in tools such as C and MATLAB.
  • Structural test experience.
