Mechanical Engineer I

Generac•Waukesha, WI

About The Position

The Mechanical Engineer I provides engineering input to assigned product development projects and works with cross-functional teams that include engineering, operations (industrial engineering, production, and material procurement), sourcing, quality, service, and marketing. The role supports new product development in industrial, commercial, residential, and/or retail generator or power tool product areas. The engineer designs, validates, and helps bring new products to market. Work includes creating and maintaining CAD models, drawings, and bills of materials; supporting product development schedules, cost targets, and design inputs; and providing technical support for assigned products. The position also specifies functional requirements and designs, tests, and integrates standard, less-complex components while assessing design effectiveness, cost, reliability, and safety. The role develops and evaluates fitness-for-use testing, product specifications, and process validation plans for standard products or components. It creates and reviews material part specifications and bills of materials, collaborates with manufacturing partners and other product stakeholders to improve designs for manufacturability, and uses CAD or CAE systems to model designs and produce detailed engineering drawings. Occasional travel is required.
