About The Position

Sedgman USA is currently recruiting for a Mechanical Designer with hands-on experience on projects ranging from conceptual design to detailed engineering, to join our team in Phoenix, Arizona! The Mechanical Designer works on a diverse array of projects across the Mineral Processing industry. You'll be involved in the entire design process, from concept to detailed design, with a clear focus on Mechanical expertise. Requirements

  • Associate Diploma in CAD / Associate Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 year’s industry experience in a design / consultancy environment, preferably supporting mining, minerals processing, or heavy industries.
  • Experience with projects from conceptual design through to detailed engineering.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD 3D modelling programs, such as AutoCAD Plant 3D, Advanced Steel, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Vault and Plant3D
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Previous MS Office skills

Responsibilities

  • Complete detailed design from sketches or specification outlines on either mechanical, process, electrical, structural, hydraulics or civil engineering fields under direction of engineers or a supervising design drafter
  • Create 3D designs from complex, multidiscipline engineering concepts.
  • Participate in the review of designs and advise on technical drafting difficulties or compliance requirements as appropriate.
  • Comply with the Change Management process for engineering design
  • Prepare drawings of designs relating to plant, equipment, services or other facilities or structures.
  • Participate in the development and continuous improvement of the Quality management process and system.
  • Ensure engineering designs follow the standard Sedgman design workflows, systems and procedures
  • Provide drafting support to the project teams in line with management direction from them whilst maximising individual and teams utilisation.
  • Focus on meeting expectations for schedule, quality and client satisfaction
  • Check drafting deliverables for accuracy, completeness and adherence to design specifications & intent.
  • Apply attention and diligence to uphold quality standards, and client requirements, to complete tasks efficiently.
