About The Position

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer designs and analyzes moderately complex mechanical systems, electronic components, equipment, and packaging. The role supports military and commercial aerospace OEM customers seeking mechanical and electromechanical actuation solutions for flight controls, door drive systems, and other applications. It conducts feasibility studies and testing for new and modified designs, supports detailed design, testing, and prototype fabrication, and provides design information for packaging documentation. The engineer develops equipment, machinery, and components that meet or exceed customer specifications while ensuring manufacturability. The role also develops practical solutions to technical engineering problems; coordinates development testing and analyzes results; supports manufacturing with engineering design, maintenance, and training; and helps build, install, debug, and test equipment. Additional work includes technical support for failure investigations and bid responses, and engineering disposition of non-conforming product through the MRB process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5–10 years of experience.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Experience creating moderately complex mechanical designs to meet customer requirements and specifications.
  • Experience interfacing with customer technical and program management personnel.
  • Ability to break long-term engineering goals into manageable near-term actions for oneself and available design support personnel.
  • Experience with 3D modeling and design; the team uses Siemens NX.
  • Experience with layout and drawing creation; the team uses Siemens NX.

Nice To Haves

  • Aerospace engineering experience, including commercial and military applications, is preferred; commercial vehicle and industrial experience will also be considered.
  • Experience with gear design or electrical enclosure design for aerospace or military use is strongly desirable.
