About The Position

Kent is seeking Mechanical Commissioning Technicians to support the GPX Greenfield Project in Port Arthur, Texas. This role involves reporting to the Mechanical Commissioning Lead Technician and supporting the planning and execution of commissioning activities. The technician will execute mechanical commissioning activities in accordance with approved procedures, project specifications, and commissioning schedules. Key tasks include performing Mechanical Completion (MC) walkdowns, equipment inspections, punch listing, system readiness verification, and completing various documentation such as Boundary Condition Sheets (BCS), commissioning check sheets, Inspection Test Records (ITRs), and turnover documentation. The role also requires verifying the readiness of mechanical systems and equipment, supporting pre-commissioning, functional testing, vendor activities, system startup, and commissioning operations. Additionally, the technician will prepare commissioning reports, redlines, turnover packages, and daily progress updates, while coordinating activities with various departments and vendors to ensure safe and efficient system handover. Identifying, documenting, and communicating commissioning deficiencies and punch list items, as well as complying with all HSSE requirements, Permit to Work (PTW), Control of Work (CoW), and project safety procedures are also crucial aspects of this position. Employees may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by their supervisor or management, within the reasonable scope of their skills and capabilities, to meet dynamic organizational needs.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of mechanical commissioning experience on industrial, LNG, oil & gas, petrochemical, or similar large capital projects.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including pumps, compressors, vessels, piping, valves, and rotating equipment.
  • Experience with Mechanical Completion, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and system turnover processes.
  • Working knowledge of PTW and Control of Work (CoW) systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, equipment datasheets, commissioning procedures, and technical drawings.
  • Experience preparing commissioning documentation, turnover records, and completion dossiers.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Full fluency in English is required.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, document, and communicate commissioning deficiencies and punch list items.
  • Comply with all HSSE requirements, Permit to Work (PTW), Control of Work (CoW), and project safety procedures.
