About The Position

The Mechanical and Utility EIT provides direction to the utility disciplines, engineers, designs and lays out work in conjunction with the needs of the water, HVAC, electrical, steam utilities and the steam/power plant under supervision of the senior mechanical engineer III. Develops projects in conjunction with the master plan including project design, engineering, estimates and proposed schedules; organizes and participates in design/construction teams; reviews design plans and specifications and estimates; influences and manages construction budgets. The position provides engineering support for the Utility Superintendents, implements and ensures compliance with campus standards; is familiar with standard concepts, contractual mechanisms and procedures, practices and technical procedures within the engineering field; provides technical guidance and design services for smaller renovations; relies on engineering knowledge and judgment to plan and accomplish tasks; utilizes certain degree of creativity and latitude; works independently with minimal supervision. This position provides good customer service to internal and external customers. Supports energy efficiency and commissioning projects with campus and utility provider.
