1. Job Summary Under the supervision of the Foreman, the incumbent acts as the primary resource to ensure the reliability of the mining site's equipment. They are responsible for the inspection, preventive and corrective maintenance, as well as the diagnosis and repair of mobile (heavy and light) and stationary plant equipment. In the context of a remote, non-unionized site, the mechanic must demonstrate exceptional versatility, actively participating in related tasks (welding, inventory management, operational support) while maintaining rigorous health, safety, and environmental standards. 2. Main Responsibilities and Tasks Mechanical Component (Mobile and Stationary): Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on the mobile equipment fleet (loaders, trucks, excavators, light vehicles) and stationary equipment (crushers, conveyors, screens, dust collectors). Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical failures; determine required parts and execute repairs. Ensure the inspection and commissioning of new equipment arriving on site. Perform welding and cutting work to repair or modify parts and metal structures. Collaborate on industrial mechanical work and provide assistance during minor electrical tasks. Management and Administration Component: Use the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to complete work orders, document repairs, and track maintenance schedules. Manage the inventory of mechanical parts, lubricants, and workshop supplies; prepare requisitions for product orders. Operations and Support Component: Start up compressors and auxiliary equipment according to operational needs. Demonstrate flexibility to temporarily relieve plant or mobile equipment operators as needed (breaks, absences, emergencies). Ensure the maintenance, organization, and impeccable cleanliness of the mechanical workshop and work environment (5S methodology). Health and Safety (OHS) Component: Strictly apply Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures prior to any intervention. Actively participate in safety meetings, Job Safety Analyses (JSA), and site safety improvement projects. Inspect and maintain safety equipment (machine guards, emergency stops) and dust collection systems. All other related tasks: Any tasks directly or indirectly related to the smooth running of operations.
