2nd-Shift Mechanic
About The Position
GFL is hiring a diesel mechanic to maintain and repair its fleet, including large trucks, front-loaders, hydraulic systems, lifters, and compactors. The role involves diagnosing complex engine and mechanical problems, performing repairs, and using diagnostic tools to assess vehicle systems. The mechanic will work as part of a collaborative, high-energy shop team. The starting shift is Monday through Friday, 3 p.m. to 2 a.m., with overtime after 40 hours worked. Starting pay is $30–$35 per hour, plus a $2 work differential; pay may increase based on experience, qualifications, and certifications or licenses. GFL also offers a $150 tool allowance, a yearly boot allowance, health, dental, and vision coverage, and opportunities for career advancement.
Requirements
- Diesel engine knowledge and mechanical repair ability.
- A personal toolbox and tools.
- Problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify the causes of equipment failures.
Nice To Haves
- A Class A or Class B commercial driver’s license; GFL may help candidates obtain the credentials if they do not already have them.
- Experience, qualifications, certifications, or licenses that may support increased pay.
