2nd-Shift Mechanic
About The Position
GFL is seeking a diesel mechanic to maintain and repair its fleet, including vehicles with complex engines and hydraulic systems. The role involves diagnosing mechanical problems, repairing heavy-duty trucks and equipment, and using diagnostic tools. The position is on the second shift, Monday through Friday, from 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. Overtime is paid after 40 hours worked. Starting pay is $30–$35 per hour, plus a $2 work differential; compensation may increase based on experience and certifications or licenses. GFL offers a $150 tool allowance and a yearly boot allowance, as well as health, dental, and vision coverage. Candidates with a Class A or B CDL are welcome; GFL will help candidates obtain the credentials if they do not already have them. Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located is required, and visa sponsorship is not provided.
Requirements
- Knowledge and experience working with diesel engines.
- A personal toolbox and tools for mechanic work.
- Ability to diagnose the causes of mechanical failures rather than only replace parts.
- Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located.
Nice To Haves
- Class A or Class B commercial driver's license; GFL will help candidates obtain the credentials if they do not have them.
- Relevant experience, certifications, or licenses that may qualify the candidate for increased pay.
Responsibilities
