Mechanic – Oil & Gas Industry
About The Position
Quality Process Services (QPS) is seeking an experienced Oil & Gas Mechanic to support mechanical maintenance activities on production facilities in the Orla and Carlsbad, Texas area. The role is suited to a highly skilled mechanic with extensive experience maintaining natural gas compression equipment, rotating equipment, pumps, and Vapor Recovery Units (VRUs). The successful candidate will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs while maintaining high standards of safety, reliability, and operational excellence. The schedule is 14 days on and 14 days off.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Minimum 5 years of oil and gas mechanical experience.
- Experience with natural gas compressors, VRUs, air compressors, pumps, and rotating equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and mechanical drawings.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with CAT 3608 and 3616 engines.
- Experience with Ariel compressors.
- Experience with Flogistix VRUs.
- Experience with centrifugal and reciprocating pumps.
- Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Technology, or a related field.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on oil and gas production equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair natural gas compressors, engines, pumps, VRUs, and other rotating equipment.
- Maintain and repair reciprocating compressors and associated mechanical systems.
- Diagnose mechanical failures and return equipment to service safely and efficiently.
- Complete scheduled preventive maintenance programs.
- Use CMMS and mobile work order systems to document maintenance activities.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, technical drawings, and maintenance procedures.
- Maintain company equipment, vehicles, and assigned tools in good working condition.
- Follow all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) procedures.
- Work closely with operations personnel to minimize production downtime.
