About The Position

This position involves performing various levels of maintenance on transit-related equipment, including servicing, inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing. The role also requires assisting higher-classified employees with their maintenance activities and performing other related duties as directed.

Requirements

• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
• Ability to read and comprehend technical publications and instructions from higher classifications.
• Knowledgeable of and familiar with current safety standards and maintenance recordkeeping procedures.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• High school or trade school graduate.
• Minimum of one (1) year practical working experience in the automotive or heavy equipment vehicle field, or hold a Certificate from an accredited institution/program.
• Complete assortment of personal tools and knowledge of their proper use.
• Valid Hawaii State driver's license with clean traffic abstract.
• Ability to pass State of Hawaii D.O.T. driving requirements for a "Type B" commercial driver's license.
• Ability to meet standard physical requirements and pass Company-sponsored medical examination and drug screening.
• Highly motivated individual with excellent work performance and attendance records.
• Willing and able to work various shifts, overtime as directed, holiday duty as required, and assume days off as assigned.
• Meet or be able to meet all present and future license and certification requirements as may be required by City, State or Federal governments.
• Pass Company-administered written and oral examinations.

Responsibilities

• Safely perform various levels of maintenance in the forms of servicing, inspecting, diagnosing and repairing of transit-related equipment.
• Assist higher-classified employees in their performance of maintenance activities.
• Perform other related duties as directed.
• Safely respond to road calls and perform preliminary on-site diagnoses.
