About The Position

The Mech Tech G 2 (Machine Operator) operates light-duty bench- or floor-type machine tools and equipment, including small lathes, power mills, extruding machines, drills or punch presses, power brakes, shears, and saws. The role may involve setting up machining machines, making adjustments, and performing machine maintenance. The operator checks work with prescribed gauges, jigs, and fixtures to measure close tolerances. Some machines may be numerically controlled. The position may also monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. This role requires the ability to perform physically demanding work in varied settings and weather conditions, pass a respirator fit test, and work the assigned shift as production needs require. The position is full-time, has multiple shifts, is not eligible for telework, and requires U.S. citizenship. Relocation assistance is not available.

Requirements

U.S. citizenship is required for this position.
High school diploma or equivalent and two years of additional education and/or related experience; alternatively, apprentice graduate or associate's degree in a relevant discipline and one year of related experience.
May require certification.
Ability to climb ladders and work at extreme heights.
Ability to work in small, tight, or confined spaces.
Ability to kneel, squat, crawl, bend, stoop, and climb on a daily basis.
Ability to lift heavy objects weighing 40 lbs. or more.
Ability to work while repeatedly reaching overhead.
Ability to work indoors or outdoors year-round in all weather conditions.
Ability to take and pass a respirator fit test.
Ability to work assigned shift as production needs require.
