About The Position

The Meat / Seafood Clerk provides courteous customer service and helps prepare, stock, and maintain meat products and work areas. Training is provided at store level. Regular, reliable attendance is an essential function of the job. Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of store management.

The position requires bending, stooping, working in a cold, wet environment, lifting up to 75 pounds, and standing for the entire 4–8-hour shift. Internal candidates are subject to additional employment, standing, and manager-approval requirements.

Nice To Haves

• Internal store/facility teammates: a minimum of six months of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
• Internal Store Support Center teammates: a minimum of one year of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
• Internal candidates must be in good standing, not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline.
• If invited for an interview, internal candidates must have manager approval based on performance.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly and courteous service to customers.
• Wrap, label, and price product.
• Prepare product for the service meat case.
• Suggestively sell products and provide product samples.
• Receive product from the warehouse.
• Stock, straighten, and rotate product in meat cases and coolers.
• Read and understand shelf tags.
• Follow company safety guidelines when using equipment.
• Provide customers with proper cooking instructions.
• Check and maintain proper temperature controls for coolers, freezers, and the cutting room.
• Maintain cleanliness of the work area, equipment, and meat cases in accordance with company safety and sanitation guidelines.
• At closing, pull product from the service meat case for proper storage.
• Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned at the discretion of store management.
