Meat Packer - 2nd Shift
About The Position
The Meat Packer packs meat in boxes, seals, labels, and stacks finished product on pallets according to work order specifications and customer preferences. The position also involves assembling boxes, cleaning the packaging area and equipment, meeting GMP and quality standards, and maintaining an efficient flow of product through production. The schedule is Sunday–Thursday, 2:30 PM–11:00 PM, with Sundays scheduled from 6:00 AM–2:30 PM. Overtime may be needed based on business needs. The position is located at 240 SW 32nd St, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33315. Starting pay is $16.00 per hour or higher, based on experience.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year of experience in the food service industry or a food production environment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, up to six hours per day.
- Ability and willingness to work in cold environments such as refrigerated storage or meat processing facilities.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including repeatedly lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 80 pounds throughout the shift on a regular basis.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in fast-paced working environments.
- Familiarity with an SQF/HACCP environment.
- Spanish speaking or bilingual Spanish-English.
Responsibilities
- Review the work schedule, perform equipment safety checks, obtain required supplies, and prepare for operations.
- Check the cutting list and obtain appropriate packaging materials from storage using a pallet jack.
- Manually assemble boxes or cases, make labels, and fill the Cryovac sealer with the required wrap.
- Load finished meat cuts from tubs into the Cryovac sealer, operate the doors, and place sealed meat on the work table.
- Pack meat into cases, label and seal cases using a tape gun or strapping machine, and stack finished cases on pallets.
- Perform housekeeping duties and clean the packaging area and equipment while complying with safety and quality standards.
- Secure equipment and complete required paperwork at the end of the shift.
