Meat Clerk
About The Position
Cardenas Markets is seeking a retail store Meat Clerk. The role is responsible for washing, inspecting, and rotating meat products; keeping displays stocked with new merchandise; and ensuring expiration dates are up to date. The Meat Clerk is expected to work well with the team and provide strong customer service. The position also involves maintaining product and sales information, ordering and inventorying meats, seafood, and poultry, helping customers make product-related decisions, keeping the department and displays neat, and following sanitation and health guidelines.
Requirements
- Valid Food Handlers Card.
- Friendly and people-oriented.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to walk continuously throughout the shift while moving about the store and obtaining product.
- Ability to stand continuously throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and occasionally lift up to 40 lbs.
Nice To Haves
- Prior food preparer experience at a grocery store preferred.
Responsibilities
- Work professionally as part of the team and provide excellent customer service.
- Verify prices, hang current sales signs, and remove out-of-date sales signs.
- Order and inventory required meats, seafood, and poultry.
- Provide customers with information needed to make product-related decisions.
- Ensure the department and meat displays have a neat appearance.
- Comply with sanitation and health guidelines.
- Wash, inspect, and rotate meat products; keep displays stocked and expiration dates up to date.
