About The Position

Floor Interior Services (FIS) is seeking professional, dependable Measure Technicians to perform accurate in-home flooring measurements and provide an exceptional customer experience. The technician visits customers’ homes, evaluates project conditions, measures applicable areas, documents project requirements, uploads completed information, and provides an in-home installation quote. The role is often the customer’s first face-to-face interaction with the installation team, so it requires professionalism, confidence, accuracy, and urgency. This position is offered on an independent contractor basis. The contractor is responsible for transportation, equipment, insurance, taxes, business expenses, and compliance with applicable laws and contractual requirements. Final expectations, compensation, service territory, scheduling requirements, performance standards, and contractor obligations are governed by the applicable independent contractor agreement. Success is measured by measurement and quote accuracy, punctuality, timely documentation uploads, customer satisfaction, quote participation and conversion results, professional communication, low remeasure and correction rates, and compliance with FIS and retail-partner requirements.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license and appropriate automobile insurance.
Ability to meet applicable independent contractor, licensing, insurance, and business requirements.
Ability to walk, bend, kneel, climb stairs, and move throughout occupied and unoccupied homes.
Ability to carry and operate measuring equipment and related technology.
Ability to safely access rooms, closets, stairs, exterior areas, and other project spaces.
Ability to work in homes with pets, dust, construction activity, or limited climate control.

Experience in flooring measurement, flooring installation, construction, estimating, in-home sales, or a related field.

Responsibilities

Travel to scheduled customer appointments within the assigned service area.
Contact customers before arrival and communicate professionally about appointment timing.
Arrive on time, professionally dressed, and prepared to complete the assignment.
Measure rooms, closets, stairs, transitions, doorways, and other applicable installation areas accurately.
Identify flooring types, subfloor conditions, transitions, furniture requirements, removal needs, installation challenges, and other project-specific details.
Create accurate diagrams, room layouts, measurements, photographs, and supporting documentation.
Ensure all required project information is complete before leaving the customer’s home.
Upload measurements, diagrams, photographs, notes, and other required documentation within established timelines.
Review the proposed installation scope with the customer and provide an accurate in-home quote using company-approved systems and pricing.
Explain the installation process, anticipated requirements, and next steps clearly without making unauthorized promises.
Answer customer questions professionally and help build confidence in moving forward with the project.
Immediately report safety concerns, unusual site conditions, system issues, or potential scope problems.
Protect customer information and maintain confidentiality.
Promptly correct measurement or documentation errors when responsible for the original assignment.
