About The Position

Stella Maris is seeking an MDS Coordinator to join its experienced MDS team at its skilled nursing facility on the campus in Timonium, Maryland. The role coordinates the collection of resident assessment data for Medicare reimbursement and supports accurate, timely completion and transmission of MDS assessments in accordance with regulatory standards. The position works with rehabilitation representatives, insurance carriers, and external agencies to meet assessment, authorization, clinical update, and reimbursement requirements. LPNs with strong MDS experience will be considered.

Requirements

• RN or LPN license in the State of Maryland.
• At least 2 years of MDS experience.

Responsibilities

• Use clinical assessment skills and chart review to identify resident status accurately.
• Identify clinical changes and ensure the appropriate MDS assessment is performed.
• Review data from the pre-admission process for MDS applicability.
• Coordinate with the rehabilitation representative to maintain the resident assessment schedule in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Recognize and use opportunities to maximize RUGS classifications.
• Enter MDS data accurately, transmit data according to regulatory standards, and maintain accurate records.
• Coordinate with insurance carriers and external agencies to meet authorization and clinical update requirements.
• Respond promptly and effectively to denials of payment or service to support reimbursement.
• Maintain weekly utilization review documentation and prepare required Medicare documentation.
