About The Position

The Art Institute of Chicago is offering the McMullan Arts Leadership Internship Program for current undergraduate and recent graduates (within one year of graduation). This program aims to provide students with experience, career awareness, networks, and skills to become future art museum leaders. It specifically supports students facing economic challenges in pursuing arts careers and seeks to cultivate diverse leaders with varied perspectives and lived experiences. Internships are for the summer of 2026, running from the week of June 1, 2026, to the week of August 3, 2026. Specific responsibilities and qualifications vary by department, and applicants must state the specific internship of interest. Internships are available in Revenue System Operations, Ticketing & Admissions Administration; Photography and Media; Provenance Research; Experience Design, Digital content; Prints and Drawings; Conservation and Science; Philanthropy, Donor Stewardship; and Modern and Contemporary Art.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate or recent graduate (within one year of graduation).
  • Ability to attend the program in person when required.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Eligible to work in the United States (including individuals currently on student visas).
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to work collaboratively.
  • Familiarity with MS Office and Google Professional Suite.
  • Internet access and appropriate technology will be necessary to complete this internship.

Benefits

  • Hiring Range: $17.50 per hour.
  • Maximum of 28 hours per week.
  • 280 hours over the course of the internship.
