MBSE & Digital Threads Engineer

Booz Allen Hamilton•El Segundo, CA

About The Position

Booz Allen is seeking a technically competent and intellectually curious engineer to build, connect, and apply interdisciplinary digital models that carry mission-critical systems from concept through their full lifecycle. The role sits at the intersection of systems engineering, architecture, and data, covering specifications, interfaces, milestone products, and the digital thread that keeps engineering artifacts consistent as designs evolve. The work supports government and other mission-critical systems, including space and ground systems, lunar missions, and positioning, navigation, and timing systems. The engineer will have autonomy, collaborate across disciplines, and own analysis and products. At the senior end of the role, the engineer will shape the technical approach, lead work through milestone reviews, and mentor others. Familiarity with artificial intelligence and large language models is advantageous as the team develops new systems-engineering approaches.

Requirements

  • Experience with systems engineering analysis and products on government or mission-critical systems.
  • Experience with MBSE tools such as Cameo, MagicDraw, Sparx EA, DOORS, or IBM Rhapsody to build specifications, interface definitions, and system architecture.
  • Experience supporting systems engineering or program-management functions through milestone reviews.
  • Knowledge of automation using scripts, code, or low/no-code tools.
  • Ability to build working relationships with government clients and contractor teammates.
  • Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience extending a digital thread across requirements, architecture, interfaces, design, and verification.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Knowledge of Agile methods and DevSecOps tools.
  • Knowledge of large language model inference engines or frameworks and how to apply them to MBSE.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Master’s degree in a STEM field.
  • Industry certification such as OCSMP, ASEP, GCP, Azure, AWS, or Security+.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain system models, architectures, and related engineering products for government or other mission-critical systems.
  • Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to produce technical specifications, interface control documents, and architecture views for program use.
  • Support program milestone reviews with clear analysis, consistent artifacts, and stakeholder-ready answers.
  • Use scripts, code, or low/no-code automation to reduce repetitive work and improve model quality.
  • Contribute to generative AI capabilities for MBSE, connecting engineering models and products with inference workflows, human review, and quality checks.
  • Work with government clients, teammate contractors, and internal partners to keep technical decisions aligned with program goals.
  • At the senior end of the role, shape the approach, lead work through milestone reviews, and mentor others.

Benefits

  • Health, life, disability, financial, and retirement benefits.
  • Paid leave.
  • Professional development.
  • Tuition assistance.
  • Work-life programs.
  • Dependent care.
  • Recognition awards program.
