About The Position

Vertex is seeking a strategic, analytically rigorous, and innovative MBA summer associate to help measure and increase the impact of Medical Affairs. The intern will establish measurement approaches and KPIs for Medical-led activities—including publications, congress presence, digital education, and field medical education—and use advanced analytics and AI to generate actionable insights and inform decisions. The role requires combining business judgment with hands-on quantitative analysis, turning ambiguous questions into analytical approaches, and communicating findings to senior leaders and non-technical audiences. The intern will join Medical Information, Technology and Innovation (MITI), the group responsible for leading technological advancement and innovation for Vertex’s Medical Affairs teams. MITI advances internal capabilities and efficiency and external excellence in interactions with healthcare providers. The team uses data, technology, advanced analytics, and AI to improve business processes, strengthen scientific exchange, and increase Medical Affairs’ impact. This is a hands-on, 9- to 10-week MBA internship centered on a business-critical Medical Affairs project. The intern will apply advanced analytics and AI to evaluate scientific communication, work with analytical tools and diverse datasets, and learn how Medical Affairs operates across Insights Generation, Evidence Generation, and Scientific Communication. The intern will create an executive-ready presentation and present recommendations to senior leadership, while also participating in industry and career-development programming, including a Lunch and Learn speaker series. The role is hybrid-eligible or on-site eligible. Hybrid designation allows remote work up to two days per week; on-site designation is five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility. The role pays $55 per hour. It is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards; some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay. Vertex describes its total rewards as including medical, dental, and vision benefits, paid time off, a week-long summer and winter shutdown, educational assistance programs including student loan repayment, a commuting subsidy, matching charitable donations, and a 401(k).
