Duke Energy is seeking first-year Master of Business Administration students interested in the energy sector for a temporary summer internship assignment in 2027. Interns will work on special projects and collaborate with teams inside and outside Duke Energy. Their primary responsibility is to assist with projects and teams in their assigned business unit. Internship projects are intended to contribute to Duke Energy’s clean energy transition strategy, produce decision-oriented results through practical project work, and provide broad exposure to the company’s groups and initiatives. Potential assignments include regulated renewables development; energy storage development; project management and construction; finance; natural gas; distributed energy; and the Emerging Technology Office. Work may include activities such as renewable project development, project controls and analytics, financial planning and analysis, and support for energy development or emerging technology initiatives. Assignments depend on business needs and may be updated. The program is based in Charlotte or Raleigh, North Carolina, with potential opportunities elsewhere in Duke Energy’s service territories. The position is hybrid after onboarding, with work performed remotely and onsite. Hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute of a designated Duke Energy facility. The internship requires full-time availability Monday through Friday for 10–13 weeks during summer 2027. Applicants must submit a current transcript and resume and must be able to work lawfully in the United States without employment-based immigration sponsorship.
