About The Position

The Math Teacher is a 12-month position at Chatham Youth Development Center, teaching mathematics to students in grades 6–12. The teacher plans lessons aligned with North Carolina standards and students’ individual learning needs, provides engaging instruction, and uses research-based strategies and interventions to support student success. The position uses data to guide instruction, implements IEPs, and maintains accurate student records and progress documentation. The teacher also serves on an interdisciplinary team to plan student services and treatment.

Requirements

Four-year college degree from an accredited post-secondary education institution.
Valid North Carolina teacher license, “A” or “M,” with mathematics certification for middle school or high school, or eligibility for a North Carolina teacher license through an alternative licensing pathway offered by NCDPI.

Responsibilities

Teach mathematics courses to students in grades 6–12.
Plan lessons aligned with North Carolina standards and students’ individual learning needs.
Provide appropriate and engaging activities to teach concepts and support student success.
Use research-based strategies and interventions to provide an appropriate education for all students.
Use data to inform instructional activities based on North Carolina standards.
Implement IEPs.
Maintain student records, exceptional children’s program paperwork, other required paperwork, and student progress information.
Serve as a member of the interdisciplinary team to plan student services and treatment.
