About The Position

The State of Connecticut, Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS) is recruiting for an anticipated Math Instructor to join their team at Windham Technical High School in Willimantic, CT. This role involves educating students in academic and trade coursework, preparing them to meet skilled workforce needs. The position is full-time, first shift, for 188 days per school year, 7 hours daily, Monday-Friday. CTECS offers diverse mathematics pathways to support student goals, including Graduation and Career, College-Preparatory, and Honors pathways. The system emphasizes providing meaningful work, encouraging a healthy work/life balance, and fostering diverse perspectives.

Requirements

• Possess an active State of Connecticut teaching certificate in 029 Mathematics.
• Must possess at time of appointment a valid certificate issued by the Connecticut State Board of Education in accordance with the Certification Regulations Concerning State Educator Certificates, Permits and Authorizations, with a secondary school endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Engage in intentional planning to prepare lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, use appropriate techniques, and serve the needs of all learners in the classroom through differentiation.
• Knowledge of Math content and pedagogy of high school Mathematics curricula.
• Understand the varied needs of each student.
• Work collaboratively with guidance personnel and other support service educators to assist students with special programming; ensure IEP and 504 accommodations/modifications are implemented.
• Set instructional goals and outcomes.
• Knowledge and use of varied instructional practices and resources.
• Effectively design instructional learning opportunities.
• Effectively design assessments.
• Develop mutual respect and rapport with students.
• Establish a culture for learning.
• Manage classroom procedures.
• Positively manage student behavior.
• Organize physical space to maximize learning opportunities.
• Effectively communicate with students.

• Maintain accurate records.
• Maintain effective and ongoing communication with students and their families.

• Implement the CTECS Board of Education and administrative policies, rules, regulations, and directives.

• Report all cases of suspected child abuse to appropriate school personnel and authorities.
