About The Position

The State of Connecticut, Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS) is recruiting for an anticipated Social Studies Instructor to join their team at A.I. Prince Technical High School in Hartford. This role involves educating students in academic and trade coursework, preparing trade-bound students to meet the skilled workforce needs in Connecticut through exemplary trade and academic programming. The position is first shift, full time, Monday-Friday, 7 hours daily, for 188 days per school year. The salary is VS01-VS02, derived from the State Vocational Federation of Teachers. CTECS follows a ten-month academic calendar.

Requirements

• Possess an active State of Connecticut teaching certificate in 026 (Social Studies).
• Possess a valid certificate issued by the Connecticut State Board of Education in accordance with the Certification Regulations Concerning State Educator Certificates, Permits and Authorizations, with a secondary school endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Engage in intentional planning to prepare lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, use appropriate techniques, and serve the needs of all learners in the classroom through differentiation.
• Understand the varied needs of each student.
• Work collaboratively with guidance personnel and other support service educators to assist students with special programming; ensure IEP and 504 accommodations/modifications are implemented.
• Set instructional goals and outcomes.
• Effectively design instructional learning opportunities.
• Effectively design assessments.
• Develop mutual respect and rapport with students.
