Math Instructional Coach

Innovamat•San Diego, CA

About The Position

Innovamat is an educational organization specializing in mathematics education. Founded in Barcelona in 2017, it provides schools with a research-based mathematics program spanning Early Childhood through Secondary Education. The program integrates curriculum, teacher training, assessment, and intervention, and draws on research in mathematics education, cognition, and neuroscience. Innovamat operates in nine countries, partnering with more than 31,000 teachers across more than 3,300 schools and reaching over 720,000 students. It reports independently validated efficacy data and was the first non-American organization to pass the California State Board of Education adoption process for a core mathematics curriculum. The Math Instructional Coach will be based in San Diego and travel approximately 30–50% of the time to schools and districts. The coach will work directly alongside teachers, observe and model instruction, and provide feedback to help educators strengthen their mathematics teaching and implement Innovamat. The role involves building coaching relationships and supporting teachers from initial implementation through confident, independent practice. The coach will design personalized professional development and math success plans suited to schools, teachers, and their contexts. They will lead hands-on workshops, help teachers create thinking classrooms in which students reason and engage deeply with mathematics, and partner with educators and school leaders to address challenges and support growth. The role also involves building a regional community of math educators and driving measurable improvements in teacher confidence, student engagement, and conceptual understanding. Innovamat describes its culture as ambitious, ownership-oriented, fast-moving, curious, humble, collaborative, and mission-driven. The company is an equal employment opportunity employer and states that it provides reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities during its application procedures.
