About The Position

G.S. Lakie Middle School is seeking a Grade 8 Math and Science teacher to join their team at the beginning of the 2026-27 school year. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Grade 8 Math and Science, as well as an option class that will be assigned prior to the position commencing. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong foundation in supporting students, have an unwavering belief that every child is a capable learner.

Requirements

• Formal education in Math and Science (preferred).
• Previous experience teaching Middle School (preferred).
• Committed to strong collaboration, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to offer engaging, innovative lessons, and to differentiate to meet diverse learner needs and styles.
• Ability to develop a genuine relationship with students and a willingness to connect with families.
• Passion and willingness to work with students outside of the classroom in an extra-curricular setting.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and professionalism.
• Previous experience teaching Options at the Middle School level (considered an asset).
• Possess or be eligible to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate.
• Provide a police information check, including Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Provide a satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services.
• Provide proof of photo identification.
• Provide documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number in the employee’s legal name.
