About The Position

G.S. Lakie Middle School is seeking a Grade 8 English Language Arts and Social Studies teacher to join their team for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in supporting students, believe that every child is a capable learner, and possess an educational background in English Language Arts and Social Studies. This role involves teaching engaging and innovative lessons, differentiating instruction to meet diverse learner needs, developing genuine relationships with students, and connecting with families. A passion for working with students in an extra-curricular setting and a commitment to ongoing professional development are also essential. The position is temporary, full-time (1.00 FTE), with an expected start date of August 25, 2026, and an anticipated completion date of March 12, 2027, or upon the return of the incumbent.

Requirements

• Educational background in English Language Arts and Social Studies.
• Ability to use technology in meaningful ways for teaching and learning.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and professionalism.
• Possess or be eligible to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate.
• Provide a police information check, including Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Provide a satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services.
• Provide proof of photo identification.
• Provide documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number in the employee’s legal name.
