About The Position
G.S. Lakie Middle School is seeking a Drama teacher to join their team at the beginning of the 2026-27 school year. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Drama grades 6 to 8 and one grade 7 Math course. The school serves approximately 540 students and is located on the west side of Lethbridge. Lakie is proud to support its diverse learning community through inclusive educational opportunities for all students and families to access. The staff strives to provide a quality education in a caring environment so that students can become life-long learners and responsible, contributing members of an ever-changing society. In addition to supporting the development of students’ skills in Fine Arts and Athletics, Lakie is excited to be offering their growing Spanish Bilingual program for all grades 6 through 8. Requirements
- Possess or be eligible to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate
- Provide a police information check, including Vulnerable Sector Check
- Provide a satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services
- Provide proof of photo identification
- Provide documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number in the employee’s legal name
- Sound understanding of teaching context and contributing variables
- Deep understanding of subject disciplines taught and pedagogical approaches based on best practice
- Understanding of planning, assessment and instructional practices
- Understanding of classroom management strategies that contribute to a positive learning environment
- Ability to use technology in meaningful ways for teaching and learning
- Qualities of a reflective practitioner who engages in professional learning aligned with the TQS
- Commitment to the school community with respect to professional relationships
- Belief in collaborative practice and teamwork
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and professionalism
Nice To Haves
- Background and/or formal training in Drama
- Previous experience teaching Drama at the Middle or High School level
- Background and/or training in Math
- Previous experience teaching Middle School
- Previous experience teaching Options at the Middle School level
