Math and/or English Tutor - Educational Opportunity Program Summer Academy

Sullivan County Community CollegeLoch Sheldrake, NY
$17 - $17Hybrid

About The Position

The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) at SUNY Sullivan is a New York State college access and academic support program designed to assist students whose educational and economic circumstances have hindered their potential. EOP offers a comprehensive suite of services, including tutoring, skill development workshops, leadership opportunities, mentoring, counseling, advisement, a pre-freshman summer experience, and modest financial support. The EOP Tutor, under the supervision of the EOP Director, is responsible for enhancing students' academic performance by helping them grasp key concepts through individual and/or group tutoring sessions. A crucial aspect of the tutor's role is to foster student self-confidence through positive feedback, encouragement, and equipping students with the tools for independent success. Tutors are expected to guide students toward finding answers themselves rather than providing direct solutions. These are part-time positions requiring flexible scheduling, including evenings, and availability for both in-person and online tutoring. Working hours will fluctuate based on student demand for tutoring in specific subject areas, with no guarantee of continued employment between semesters. EOP Tutors are exclusively authorized to tutor EOP students during their designated EOP tutoring hours.
