About The Position

The Maternal Health Network (MHN) is a UNM Health Sciences Center initiative within the New Mexico Health Care Authority’s Rural Health Transformation Program (Healthy Horizons). Through the Healthy Horizons Region 3 Regional Hub, UNM coordinates a statewide maternal health learning collaborative and planning process during Year One. This work assesses maternal health access needs, referral and transfer pathways, provider capacity, and regional roles, and develops findings and recommendations—including potential hub-and-spoke model options—for the Health Care Authority’s consideration. The Maternal Health Network Regional Officer leads this work within a defined region of New Mexico, collaborating with the MHN Strategic Project Director. The officer builds relationships with maternal health providers, hospitals, birth centers, FQHCs, IHS and Tribal health programs, and community-based supportive service providers; assesses regional needs and capacity; integrates UNM HSC maternal health services in underserved communities; and serves as a liaison between the University and local populations. As the network expands, the officer supervises MHN Project Managers and Program Coordinators.
