About The Position

A locum tenens Maternal Fetal Medicine Physician is needed in Anchorage, Alaska, to provide inpatient and outpatient clinical coverage and call coverage from January 1, 2027, through January 1, 2028. The assignment includes weekday clinic hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., weeknight call after clinic hours, and 24-hour call on Saturdays and Sundays. Call is by beeper, with a 20-minute response time. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are covered. The physician will provide maternal-fetal medicine consultations, perform and interpret obstetric ultrasounds, manage high-risk pregnancies, and provide backup obstetric call coverage. The clinical setting includes a clinic and hospital, with an Epic EMR, ultrasound machines, and support from RNs, MAs, a PA/NP, and office staff. Hospital privileges are required; temporary privileges are not available.

Requirements

Board certified.
Active Alaska medical license required.
DEA registration required.
BLS certification required.
ACLS certification required.
Ability to perform and interpret ultrasounds required.
On-site assignment.

Responsibilities

Provide outpatient and inpatient maternal-fetal medicine consultations.
Perform and interpret obstetric ultrasounds, including Level II and fetal echocardiography.
Manage high-risk pregnancies involving conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and autoimmune disorders.
Provide backup obstetric call coverage on weeknights and weekends.
Collaborate with OB physicians and other specialists to manage complex maternal conditions.
Perform the required procedures and manage the listed maternal-fetal conditions, including deliveries and cesarean sections.
