Maternal Fetal Medicine Physician | Ohio

Emerald Resource Group•Columbus, OH

About The Position

The Maternal Fetal Medicine Physician co-manages medically complex pregnancies and translates maternal and fetal findings into clear, actionable care plans for obstetric partners, neonatology, and families. The role includes providing timely consultations, performing and interpreting detailed fetal ultrasound and indicated diagnostic procedures, and coordinating multidisciplinary planning for fetal anomalies. The physician closes each visit with a defined next decision, an owner, and a date, and applies case-review findings to protocol changes and daily practice. The physician also coaches residents, sonographers, or advanced practice clinicians to maintain consult quality across the service. The physician reports to the MFM medical director or women’s-services physician leader and works within a hospital-based perinatal team that includes obstetric hospitalists, neonatology, obstetric anesthesia, genetic counselors, and dedicated sonographers. Imaging suites, fetal monitoring, and a shared EMR are available, and call is distributed across the MFM group. The physician shapes clinical pathways; capital and staffing budgets are managed by service leadership. The caseload is weighted toward high-risk consultations rather than routine prenatal volume, with shared MFM coverage and a functioning multidisciplinary team.
