About The Position

High-risk pregnancy is where clinical judgment changes two lives at once. In this role you will own complex maternal and fetal care from first consult through delivery planning, translating uncertainty into a clear plan families and referring clinicians can trust. Your work will set the standard for timely diagnosis, coordinated care, and safer outcomes when pregnancy is anything but routine.

Requirements

  • Board certification or active eligibility in Obstetrics and Gynecology and in Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
  • Unrestricted medical license, or eligibility, in the state of practice, and current DEA registration.
  • Demonstrated competence in detailed fetal ultrasound and the diagnostic procedures required by the service.
  • A record of managing complex maternal medical disease and fetal anomalies in collaboration with referring clinicians.
  • Clear communication with patients and teams under time pressure, including documented shared decision-making.
  • Commitment to outcome review and to practicing within current specialty guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a defined panel of high-risk pregnancies so that each patient has a documented, updated care plan within the agreed consult window.
  • Deliver timely inpatient and outpatient MFM consultations that give referring obstetricians a clear diagnosis, risk assessment, and next step.
  • Perform and interpret advanced fetal ultrasound and indicated diagnostic procedures with accuracy rates and complication rates that meet or exceed specialty benchmarks.
  • Lead multidisciplinary plans with obstetrics, neonatology, anesthesia, and nursing so delivery timing and setting are decided before crisis, not during it.
  • Reduce preventable maternal and neonatal morbidity by closing gaps found in case review, including missed follow-up and delayed transfers.
  • Counsel patients and families in plain language so they can state the diagnosis, options, and chosen plan before leaving the visit.
  • Contribute to quality improvement by reviewing outcomes, sharing findings, and adopting at least one practice change each year that improves safety or access.
