About The Position

S.W.COLE has an immediate opening for a full-time, Entry Level, Materials Testing Technician based at their Bangor, Maine office, working on construction projects throughout central, eastern, and northern Maine. No prior experience is required as the company provides training and compensation during the learning period. The role typically involves working Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work, early mornings, late evenings, and regular overtime during the construction season. The technician will primarily drive to construction sites to perform field tests on various materials such as concrete, soil, aggregate, asphalt, grout, mortar, and steel. While often working independently on job sites, the technician will interact with personnel from other companies. The work can be physically demanding, requiring lifting and carrying material samples, walking through construction sites, and pushing a wheelbarrow. This work is conducted year-round. Safety is paramount, and S.W.COLE provides necessary safety equipment, including safety-toe boots. The job requires basic math skills, documenting observations and test results, and regular use of a computer or tablet. Technicians will also learn to interpret design plans and specifications. When not in the field, duties include laboratory work and training for additional certifications. Responsibilities
