About The Position

The Materials Specialist sustains and oversees medical and/or surgical supplies and provides service and support to clinicians, physicians, and City of Hope departments in caring for patients. The position typically works from 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. and involves maintaining accurate, available, and well-managed inventory.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Two years of experience in a Supply Chain or Materials department.
Strong customer service, communication, and collaboration skills.
Strong communication skills in person, over the phone, and via email.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently and to stand or walk for most of the shift.

Nice To Haves

Experience in a hospital setting.
ERP experience.

Responsibilities

Analyze item usage and cost to determine and adjust stock levels, reduce inventory costs, and carry out material phase-ins and phase-outs.
Work with Purchasing to obtain technical information and specifications, identify recommended vendors, understand backorder risks, determine substitute-material availability, communicate supply risks or concerns, and manage open orders and return-to-vendor requests.
Review daily transactions to ensure supply issuances, receiving, inventory adjustments, and other transactions are accurate.
Complete supply requisitions and submit them to Purchasing before the cutoff time.
Accurately execute daily inventory transactions, including receipts, transfers, fulfillments, adjustments, and express issues, on the same day.
Coordinate with purchasing, supply chain, receiving personnel, vendors, and accounts payable personnel to resolve purchase-order problems.
Perform daily cycle counts and manage expiration dates.
Clean and maintain inventory and bins, ensure inventory and storage locations are correctly labeled and barcoded, and perform other regular inventory maintenance to ensure accuracy and quality.
Provide service and support to clinicians, physicians, and City of Hope departments.
